11/20/2008 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Ottawa Senators will try for their first win in two weeks when they invite the struggling Montreal Canadiens for tonight's Northeast Division matchup at Scotiabank Place.
The Senators have lost five straight contests since earning a 4-1 home victory over Philadelphia on November 6. The slide has helped place Ottawa last in the division and tied for the bottom spot in the Eastern Conference with 15 points.
Ottawa's last three setbacks have come against New York-area teams, as it was swept in a home-and-home series with the Islanders before losing a shootout decision to the Rangers on Monday at Madison Square Garden.
Nikolai Zherdev scored the lone shootout goal to help the Rangers earn the 2-1 decision over the Senators. However, Ottawa earned its first point in the loss since the win over the Flyers earlier this month.
Sens captain Daniel Alfredsson scored the lone goal in the recent loss, while Alex Auld turned in a solid performance, stopping 26-of-27 shots for Ottawa.
Tonight marks the opening test of a three-game homestand for the Senators, who are just 3-5-1 as the host this season.
The Canadiens, meanwhile, have picked up just two wins in their last seven games, going 2-4-1 over that stretch. Montreal was handed its third setback in four games Tuesday evening at Carolina as Ray Whitney's power-play goal in the third period lifted the Hurricanes to a 2-1 decision at the RBC Center.
Robert Lang scored the only goal for Montreal, while Carey Price was tremendous between the pipes with 46 saves in defeat.
The Habs were just 1-for-6 on the power play, but that goal marked the club's only tally with the man advantage in the last five games. Montreal is 1-for-26 on the power play over that stretch.
Montreal, which is 5-3-2 as the visitor this year, is wrapping a three-game road trip tonight. The Canadiens next two games will be on home ice, beginning with Saturday's matchup against Boston.
The Habs blanked Ottawa, 4-0, at the Bell Centre on November 11 to give Montreal its third straight win in the series. The Sens have still taken eight of 12 matchups with the Canadiens and they've also taken 10 of the last 13 encounters at Scotiabank Place.

Albert Pujols to be This Year's Home Run Champ Says Online Sportsbook
Barry Bonds is a 50-1 long shot to be this year's home run champ odds. The favorite to be this year's home run champ is none other than Albert Pujols, however.
Now that Barry Bonds is signed and in Giants camp, it is on to his pursuit of all of sports most prestigious records: the all-time home run mark. Bonds sits just 21 homers shy of tying Hank Aaron for the career mark at 755. Word out of Giants’ camp is that Bonds is the healthiest he has been in a few years. Bonds is just two seasons removed from his injury riddled 2005 campaign where he played in only 14 games and hit only 5 home runs. He did come back last year and had a solid season hitting .270 with 26 bombs. All eyes will be on Bonds this spring and summer not only because of his home run chase but his highly publicized steroid abuse allegations. If and when Bonds breaks the record, he surely will not get the positive attention one should for breaking a record that was once thought of as “unbreakable”. Despite Bonds decent season last year, he is just 50-1 at MySportsbook.com to lead the MLB in long balls this season.
Not surprisingly, the favorites to go deep the most times this season are Albert Pujols 5-1, Ryan Howard 6-1, David Ortiz 8-1 and Alex Rodriguez 12-1. With 49 homers, Pujols finished second in the National League behind Howard (58). Pujols is considered the favorite due to the consistent power numbers that he has posted since breaking into the league in 2001. Also one must consider the fact that he played in 16 fewer games then Howard did due to an injury. Howard smashed 58 homers in his first complete season of big league play en route to the National League MVP odds award. He silenced his critics by successfully hitting left-handed pitching. Howard also displayed the ability to use his power to the opposite field. Two attributes which should keep Howard amongst the league leaders in long balls for years to come. From the American League representatives, David Ortiz leads the field. Ortiz was second in the majors last year with 54 home runs. Except for 1999 when he only played in 10 games, Ortiz has improved on his home run numbers each year he has been in the majors (1997).

Matt Kenseth And Kevin Harvick Favorites To Take NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship
(September 15)—The NASCAR season has hit the homestretch with the opening event on this year’s Chase for the Cup taking place this weekend at the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. With 10 races remaining to determine the Cup Series champion, leading online sportsbook MySportsbook.com today announced odds on all 10 Chase qualifying drivers capturing the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.
One of the largest sportsbook sites on the Internet, MySportsbook.com currently lists the top two drivers in the point standings as the early favorites to win the Nextel Cup. Entering the Chase for the Cup with a slim five-point lead in the point standings, 2003 NASCAR champ Matt Kenseth has been made a slight favorite to win his second Cup at 7/2 betting odds. 2001 Cup Rookie of the Year Kevin Harvick has betting odds listed at 5/2 and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon is listed at 6/1 to capture the Nextel Cup this year.
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of his legendary father who won six NASCAR titles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 8/1 to breakthrough with his first Cup victory. Staying with the family theme, MySportsbook.com lists 2005 Rookie of the Year Kyle Busch at 14/1 to succeed big brother Kurt’s 2004 NASCAR title. While Kasey Kahne was the final driver to qualify for the Chase with a third place finish last week, the oddsmakers give him a fighting chance at 10/1 mainly due to several mile-and-a-half tracks remaining on the schedule. Despite going winless on the NASCAR circuit this season, Jeff Burton enters the Chase at 5/1 to capture the Cup title. Meanwhile, rookie Denny Hamlin is 4/1 to win the championship, while veteran driver Mark Martin enters the Chase for the Cup as a 15/1 long shot to win his first NASCAR title in his 24th and final season.
MySportsbook.com will offer comprehensive Nascar betting lines on every race remaining on the Nextel Cup series including driver match-ups, props and odds to win each race. For a complete list of NASCAR odds, please visit www.MySportsbook.com.
